To be as productive as I can.
Your label features very intricate, unconventional, and rather abstract designs. Where do you get your inspirations from?
Everywhere. Whatever catches my attention, I keep that in mind and start develop the idea into a collection.
On that note, how do you balance creativity with commerce?
I always have a motto that fashion has to be wearable, unique and has my personal style in it, at the same time.
What do you feel is the biggest difference between the international and Indonesian market?
I feel like the Indonesian market is more into the latest trend (follower), while as the international market is more diverse and creative (trendsetter).
You earned your prestigious designer title through design shows and fierce competitions. What advice can you give to aspiring designers that are trying to make it in the industry?
What was the harshest critic you’ve ever received?
That I will never make it in fashion industry.
How do you stay cool under such pressure?
Pray hard, give your self a little treat after an accomplishment and of course do your work with love and passion.
What is one thing you wish that the current modern women would stop wearing?
Bell bottom pants. It is so out of trend.
Do you have any plans on taking Natalia Kiantoro the label to foreign shores?
Yes, taking the label outside the country is always our dream and I think Singapore would be the first.
